DfT Family: Ioana’s DfT Diary, Week 4

I need to work on my winner item and I am happy because I haven’t done a sketch in more than a month. Ideas come easy and so does the balance between the commercial aspect of the item that will need to sell well but also look like something a designer has created.

DfT Family: Ioana’s DfT Diary, Week 3

I begin to relax and get used to the idea that I have won the award. I start waking up late, going to movies, meeting friends and visit the parts of London I did not have time to visit before. The DfT team asks for my collection because it is easier for any press requests. I somehow feel relieved that I can give it away. Not only for the fact that I don´t have much space in my room, but also because usually designers start hating their collection after it is done.

DfT Family: Ioana’s DfT Diary, Week 2

I meet my teacher who is excited to see me. He is really proud of me and also happy that I represented the school the way I did. It’s his first year with LCF (London College of Fashion) so this kind of success is also helpful for his career.

I still cannot believe I won, it is so hard to realise it. So I focus on planning the future. I even already try to squeeze some new ideas for the next collection but it is way too soon. I start answering interviews, it’s like a full time job. But it is fun.

DfT Family: Ioana’s DfT Diary, Week 1

DfT winner 2013 Ioana C. Miron speaks of her feelings and experiences after her great success and keeps us up to date with a diary. Have fun!

I spend all the week trying to get my brain to process the fact that I have won. It all happened so fast. The day after the show I got to see some shows from Berlin Fashion Week and outside the entrance people started to recognize me from the night before and ask me questions or take photos of me. The transfer from backstage designer to winner is sudden and I enjoy every minute of it. I still need to work on my ‘photo face’.

To all of our sponsoring partners: DfT and the finalists say thank you!

A few weeks have passed since Ioana C. Miron, Annalena Skörl Maul, Hannah Kuklinski, Jamie Wei Huang and Katy Clark have presented their final collections to an international audience at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin.
Ioana took home the trophy but today we would like to look back to all of the five up-and-coming designers and their collections that have been supported by our partners. Not only the finalists know about the importance of a great shoe, the audience does as well. Luckily, the five women have had professional help from stylist Kathi Kauder in finding the perfect shoe for their collection. Therefore:

A big thank you to all of our partners who have sponsored great shoes for our show in Berlin!

BEHIND THE SCENES: Backstage impressions of the DfT award show 2013

We’d like to share some impressions from the buzzing backstage atmosphere, shortly before the five finalists Katy, Jamie, Hannah, Annalena and Ioana each presented their own collections at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin on July 3rd: Make-up, fancy hairpieces and last styling arrangements – yet models and make-up artists seemed to be quite at ease and all preparations ran smoothly. Have a look!

Award show 2013: Runway impressions

We are proud to present you our runway impressions of July 3rd which show how the hard work of our five finalists finally paid off when they got to show their designs at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin.

Luckily, we weren’t the ones who had to make the final decision because all five collections of the designers were unique and special with lots of attention to detail. In the end, Ioana C. Miron won the majority of our jury’s votes and was awarded as the Designer for Tomorrow 2013!
