DfT Family: Finalist Check Camilla

We can’t believe it has already been more than two months since the five finalists presented their work in Berlin during July. Of course, we haven’t only been in touch with Leandro since then, but also with the other four finalists. First up this week: Camilla Salgaard Nielsen.

Recently, Camilla was accepted to The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture, where only five to ten people are chosen each year.  “This is a dream coming true!” Camilla tells us and we’re more than excited for her.

As for Camilla’s work, she is still busy designing her own pieces for “the independent stylish women” as well as doing different freelance jobs as a designer. After taking part in the DfT award, Camilla received a lot of press coverage – both in foreign countries and Denmark. All the feedback has been very positive and she considers the whole experience as a huge honor and privilege.

“I got the huge experience I searched for. And it taught me a lot – and much more than I ever hoped for.”

Up next, Camilla will focus on her masters degree, parallel with developing her own label. There isn’t a specific thing or place that inspires her work because she finds inspiration everywhere, anywhere and whenever: “It can be sitting in a café, staring at people, seeing a special surface in nature, a conversation or watching a movie … anything!”

We’re excited to see those inspirations come alive in the future and wish all the best of luck to Camilla.

Next week we’ll check in with Ramil, so stay tuned!
