An eye for talent: DfT jury 2012!

The Berlin fashion world was definitely on an adrenalin-high when Marc Jacobs came visiting the German capital last week to take a closer look at the DfT finalists’ collections! For the months to come until the DfT award show in July 2012, Marc has gathered an expert jury to help him name the biggest design talent:

Christiane Arp (editor-in-chief German Vogue), Karen Boros (Collection Boros), John Cloppenburg (Member of the Executive Committee Peek & Cloppenburg KG Duesseldorf), Melissa Drier (Women’s Wear Daily), Karen Heumann (directorate/partner kt.), Marcus Luft (Gala), Annette Weber (InStyle) and Michael Werner (TextilWirtschaft).

For Vogue editor-in-chief Christiane Arp, supporting young designers is important as creative talents are essential for today’s fashion industry, while John Cloppenburg can’t wait for new design blood to bring a fresh breeze into collections. Melissa Drier, German Correspondent for Women’s Wear Daily, looks at newcomer designers as the industry’s lifeline and our link to the future: “Fashion talent is a special aptitude that can shape a vision out of diverse and often contrary elements, be it structure, texture, silhouette, function, emotion, color, pattern, urban edge, natural chic, drama, understatement, yesterday, today, tomorrow.”

With this concentrated expertise coming from all fields of the fashion industry in the DfT jury, it’s gonna be a pulsating competition and an exciting grande finale to come!
