Designer for Tomorrow presents Alexandra Kiesel’s first own fashion show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin – all highlights from Alexandra’s big day!

She’s been working on this for months – yesterday, DfT winner Alexandra Kiesel finally showed the fashion world her new collection at her first own fashion show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin!

It’s the highlight of the young talent award’s sponsorship program after the competition’s patron Marc Jacobs and the juryboard elected Alexandra at the DfT finalists show last July: The show tent at Brandenburg Gate was packed and celebrities, such as the Mayor of Berlin, Klaus Wowereit, actress Katja Flint,  Karoline Herfurth and entrepreneur Dana Schweiger, could be spotted among the fashion crowd who did not want to miss a show that has already been considered one of the most exciting events of this fashion week.

With her collection “Support your local heroes”, Alexandra surely lived up to those expectations. The newcomer collaborated with six up-and-coming artists from Berlin, who contributed artwork in various styles. Complementing the pastel shades and bright colors of the pieces, those illustrations were printed onto the voluminous cuts and tender textiles as well as onto shoes and bags. With her trademark jewelry, leather and wicker accessories and the strong look Alexandra added with the models’ wigs, the DfT winner presented a coherent and exciting collection that already shows her strong signature in designing.

As her twelve models walked down the runway, the inspiration Alexandra gathered during the last months, supported by the Designer for Tomorrow program, once again became obvious: Looking at a lot of Impressionism art on the DfT trip to Paris definitely left its traces in the choice of colors! By choosing the live music artist Petula, Alexandra also showed that she understands how to rock a major fashion show: „My biggest goal is to make the audience smile!”. Well, she can tick that one off!

We can’t wait to see what happens next for our newcomer design star!
