New York – a fashion jungle where dreams are spun!

Manhattan has somewhat given DfT winner Alexandra Kiesel a stiff neck – too much staring up the numerous skyscrapers!

On her first day ever in the Big Apple, the young design talent has been sitting on a sightseeing bus and has already caught the New York fever: „I have always thought people’s stories about New York must be a cliché, but the city has really knocked my socks off!“

Even though Alexandra is experiencing the metropolis on a tight schedule, with lots of things to do during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, she skipped the cab ride in the morning to walk a couple of blocks soaking in the streets’ atmosphere – and doing some people watching! What patterns are New York fashionistas wearing this season, and how long are their sleeves? Sure thing Alexandra has all of her outfits for this week figured out already, including some orange silk pants she finished sowing the night before she got on the plane.

Now working on her upcoming collection for her first own show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin in January, Alexandra is on the lookout for accessories that she can bring home and maybe blend in with her new designs. For some color inspiration, she hopes to find the time to go to the Museum of Modern Art and glaze at some impressionism paintings.

While her head is still spinning from all the new impressions, all of a sudden there appears a familiar face in the crowd – the beautiful girl Alexandra just ran into turns out to be Marta from Spain, one of her models from the DfT award show! In New York, anything can happen in one day, so they say – let’s see what this week still holds for our German Fräulein!
