About

We would like to introduce the new talent award “Designer for Tomorrow by Peek & Cloppenburg Düsseldorf”!

Supporting young and rising designers in an ongoing way – this is what
Peek & Cloppenburg KG Düsseldorf particularly wants to do. The aim is to provide young talents with a platform for their ideas and designs. This is how the young talent award “Designer for Tomorrow by Peek & Cloppenburg Düsseldorf” came about, which P&C awards each year as the exclusive fashion retail partner of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin.

Creative young designers who have either completed their studies within the last 24 months or can provide proof of training in fashion design and who do not yet have their own collection on the market can apply to take part each year. A jury of experts selects eight participants to present their collections in the summer in a show at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin. In addition to an individual program of promotion, the winner can expect prize money and the unique opportunity to have their own fashion show in Berlin the following January.

Alexandra Kiesel
is the current Designer for Tomorrow 2011. A renowned award jury, including star designer Marc Jacobs, the young talent’s award mentor, nominated the Berlin Weißensee School of Art graduate as winner of last year’s competition. Things started to happen head over heels for the newcomer designer: Part of the DfT sponsorship program has been to help the young creative to produce her own collection, for which she went on inspirational trips to Paris and New York.

Another shaping experience was her visit at the studio of her mentor Marc Jacobs in Big Apple.Alexandra Kiesel is now following in the footsteps of her predecessor Parsival Cserer, Designer for Tomorrow 2010. After a lot of press coverage and working tirelessly for months, Alexandra will show her new collection „Support your local heroes“ on the big catwalk at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin in January 2012.

The winner of the young talent award 2010 is Parsival Cserer from Berlin.
On July 9, 2010, the jury crowned this student from the Berlin Weißensee Arts College the new “Designer for Tomorrow”. He was staging his own fashion show at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin in January 2011.

His predecessors: Sam Frenzel (winner July 2009) presented his collection “Bravura Autumn/Winter 2010” at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin in January 2010. Some accessory highlights of the collection have been available since August 2010 at P&C in limited editions. And he recently became the new Creative Director at Roeckl. Julia Knüpfer (winner January 2009) is currently creating her own fashion label. Joel S. Horwitz (winner January 2009) is a designer for the “Originals” Lifestyle Department at Adidas. The “Designers for Tomorrow“ have become the “Designers of Today”.
