The DfT winner 2013 is announced: Congratulations to Ioana Ciolacu Miron

Ioana Ciolacu Miron is the winner of the fashion talent award “Designer for Tomorrow” sponsored by Peek & Cloppenburg Duesseldorf and Fashion ID. In front of an audience of more than 700 guests, her collection, “Paradox” convinced the Jury Board hosted by the Patron Stella McCartney in the tent of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin. This afternoon, other prominent guests like Berlin’s Mayor Klaus Wowereit, Nadine Warmuth, Fritzi Haberlandt, Peri Baumeister, Soenke Moehring, Christoph Metzelder and Jury Board-member Hanneli Mustaparta were unable to hide their enthusiasm for the young designer’s creations.

“All five finalists came up with fantastic ideas and have a good feeling for where they stand as designers. Ioana is a really big talent with masses of potential, and I hope we’ll be hearing a lot more from her in the future”, commented Stella McCartney in conversation with host Louise Roe. Ioana’s collection is all about contrasts. Her creations are soft and flowing, appear structured and feminine while simultaneously expressing a masculine strength. A diversity of materials like wool, plastic, chiffon and even plastic foam fuse in quite extraordinary unity. The prints on the pieces kept in subdued color were all hand-drawn by Ioana Ciolacu Miron. Her collection reflects her own personality: “I want to give a part of who I am by translating my personal experiences into visual realities with the help of my designs. This will be intuitively grasped by the women who wear my creations“, explains the Romanian-born designer (31).

P&C Duesseldorf and Fashion ID will be closely accompanying the development of the young designer’s career until next spring. “We are now looking forward to enjoying some really intensive time with Ioana Ciolacu Miron. Our individual sponsorship program provides support in the form of a studio, financial backing for her next collection, and the opportunity to take part in creative workshops. The highlight will be her first own fashion show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin in January 2014”, said John Cloppenburg, Member of the Executive Committee Peek & Cloppenburg KG, Duesseldorf and Fashion ID GmbH & Co. KG. Stella McCartney will also continue to accompany the winner and will invite Ioana to her fashion show in Paris.
